About Us

Souderton Area for Responsible Leadership (SAFRL) was founded in 2021 as a response to growing political divisions in our school board meetings. We saw residents pushing for policies that didn’t reflect our community’s best interests, and the board going along with them instead of focusing on what’s best for students.

SAFRL started as a grassroots effort to bring balance and accountability to the board. In 2021, we ran a bipartisan write-in campaign, and while we didn’t win, the community urged us to keep going. In 2023, we ran five candidates, forcing the all-Republican board to campaign for the first time in years. The races were close, but change didn’t come—yet.

The demand for fresh leadership is still strong, and we’re ready to step up again in 2025.
